Janet Gunderson
Janet
Gunderson is the Consumer Advisory Council representative
for Saskatchewan. She and her husband Grant live in Glaslyn
and have a grown son and daughter.
Janet taught elementary school for twenty years. In 1999
she was diagnosed with small vessel vasculitis, an autoimmune
disease causing inflammation of blood vessels. She has been
unable to teach since 1999 due to this disease and she remains
on disability. Unrelated to the vasculitis, Janet has been
diagnosed with widespread osteoarthritis and degenerative
disc disease.
Since going on disability Janet has used her time to volunteer
within many groups. Janet has been an active volunteer with
the Arthritis Society since 2002 by teaching Arthritis Self-Management
classes, Chronic Pain workshops, and is a part of the Speakers
Bureau. She has also acted as a consumer reviewer with the
Cochrane Musculoskeletal Group and is a member of the Canadian
Arthritis Patient Alliance (CAPA).
