Ron Simpson, MBA
Ron Simpson began his association with The Arthritis Society (TAS) in 1985 as a director on the Ontario board of directors. He served two-year terms as treasurer and chair. He was a member of the TAS national board as division chair from 1992 to 1994 and division representative from 1994 to 1996. In 1996, he was elected vice-chair of the national board of directors. Mr. Simpson currently sits on the executive committee.
Mr. Simpson graduated with a B.Sc. from the University of British Columbia and an MBA from the University of Western Ontario. He has had a long and varied business career, beginning as a process engineer in 1964 with Cities Services Chemicals, Columbian Carbon (Canada) Division. He worked for Domglas Inc. for 20 years, starting as marketing development manager and was appointed President & CEO in 1984.
In 1989, Mr. Simpson established GAR Packaging Services, which represented Anchor Glass Container (then the #2 U.S. supplier) in Canada until 1997. He was Director of Skandia Canada Reinsurance Company from 1990 to 1997. From 1989-1992, he was a Director of Kord Products, a manufacturer of plastic and fibre horticultural containers. From 1996 to 1998, Mr. Simpson was Chairman & CEO of Lignex Inc., a start-up company in the wood waste business.
