Johnathan Riley
Johnathan Riley was appointed Managing Director
of the Canadian Arthritis Network
(CAN) in November 2004 and is a non-voting
member of the Board of Directors.
He joined the Network in 2001 as Manager
of the Disease Management Core in
Vancouver, where he conducted research
on a national registry of patients
with osteoarthritis. In April 2002
he was appointed Director of Research,
Information and Analysis and relocated
to CAN's administrative office in
Toronto.
Mr. Riley has had extensive experience
in health care management. As Project
Manager for the British Columbia Ministry
of Health’s Hepatitis C Blood
Recipient Notification Project, he
led the public and letter notification
programs. Transfusion and health records
of blood recipients between 1985 and
1990 were collected from 84 British
Columbia hospitals.
Mr. Riley’s experience in the
British Columbia hospital sector includes
work at the Chilliwack General Hospital
where he completed an evaluation of
the hospital’s program management
structure and patient focused care
delivery system. At the BC Children's
and Women's Hospital, he developed
a strategic communication plan for
the Paediatrics Patient-Based Care
Unit and revised admission criteria
for The Children's Centre at Mount
Saint Joseph Hospital.
Mr. Riley was actively involved as
a volunteer on the executive committee
of the Health Care and Epidemiology
Program Alumni Association where he
was the treasurer and co-leader of
the 19th Annual Pacific Health Care
Forum Conference. He also volunteered
for the Vancouver Lifeguard Society
and the Royal Life Saving Society
of Canada.
Mr. Riley was awarded a B.Sc. in Biochemistry
and a B.Sc. in Medical Laboratory
Science as well as a Master's degree
in Health Administration from the
University of British Columbia.
