Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Steven McNair joined The Arthritis Society as President and CEO in January of 2008. He also currently sits on the Board of Directors for The Arthritis Society, the Arthritis Research Centre and the Canadian Arthritis Network.

Steven is a senior Canadian business leader with a wealth of marketing and business experience. He often jokes that he has had three careers. His first career began in the retail sector where he was a General Manager with the Hudson's Bay Company. His second career was in the financial sector where he was Executive Vice President, CIBC Imperial Service, CIBC Private Wealth Management, and his third career is well underway in the non-profit sector.

Throughout his careers, Steven has also been actively involved in volunteer positions, having served as Leadership Chair of the Peel Region United Way, a member of the capital campaign for the Mississauga Living Arts Centre and a member of the Board of Directors of Learning for a Sustainable Future. He recently served as a volunteer Director, MBA Simulation for the Rotman School of Business, and was a member of the Fundraising Committee for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario. His passion for volunteerism is helping him guide The Arthritis Society through its next phase of growth.

Steven is a strategic leader with a proven track record for building and turning around businesses. He is an excellent communicator and is passionate about The Arthritis Society's cause. In the past 18 months he has forged stronger relationships with key stakeholders and partners within the arthritis community. His solid understanding of the research landscape and desire to support Canadians affected by arthritis are steering The Society's ongoing work and ensuring that its mission is upheld. His personal belief in The Society's vision of a "World without arthritis" provides the inspiration to continue to build relationships with partners, government and stakeholders to ensure the needs of the nearly 4.5 million Canadians with arthritis are acknowledged and acted upon.
